Travelling in the same direction of the moisture laden winds that come from the Atlantic Ocean, this trip is designed for you to explore some of the highlights of South America while at the same time understanding the vast variety on landscapes and environments that exist a subtropical latitude. The Iguassu Falls and Iberá, the second largest wetland in South America, speak for themselves.

A flight over the Chaco region – also called impenetrable or the inaccessible, will take you straight to the Calchaquí Valley, a high Andean region where you the history of the first Spanish settlers in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth centuries will come alive. From there we travel farther west, crossing the Andes Mountains at one of its highest and widest points. The trip will end at the Atacama Desert, another superlative, the driest on Earth.

We have put together this rich and memorable experience for travellers to reconnoitre the heart of the South American continent; while learning about the flora, fauna, traditions and contrasting landscapes of the region. Day by Day Itinerary

We will meet you at the Iguassu airport and take you to a boutique hotel located in the jungle where you will have time to settle down, take a canopy walk near the treetops or indulge in bird-watching. (L/D)

The Iguassu or Iguazú falls are the day’s agenda, located only 17 km away from your lodge. Walking on catwalks is only one of the day’s highlights. After lunch meet with your jungle transfer towards a reserve we have chosen for you to have an introduction to the inland Atlantic Forest and its myriads of animal and plant species. (B/L/D)

The jungle lodge’s guides are biologists or highly trained naturalists, so even though
you may not be an expert bird and nature observer a new understanding of the amazing connections in the natural world will disclose. Welcome to the jungle. B/L/D)

After a morning exploring the jungle, transfer to the airstrip where a small private plane is ready to take you to your next destination, an estancia in the Iberá wetlands. This estancia, managed as a private reserve is the perfect place to enjoy firsthand encounters with wildlife while also learning about gaucho life. (B/L/D)

The South American birds, local fauna and wet savannahs are there to explore. The Estancia is part of a conservation project that Works to restore the wetlands to their natural state. Horseback riding, sitting by the swimming pool, walking or canoeing are all options for you to choose from. (B/L/D)

After breakfast a private plane is waiting to take you west, starting the day in a wet environment and ending it in the Andes Mountains. After a lunch of regional foods a private vehicle is waiting to drive you to your destination, an estancia with some of the highest vineyards in the Calchaquí Valley. (B/L/D)

Forget the vehicle and enjoy a full day at the Estancia, where a half day to hike or horseback ride, a chance to learn about gaucho life, how to make cheese or relax are different options to choose from. (B/L/D)

We leave in the morning, driving acros a desert plateau. On the way down, a two hour invigorating walk gives you a chance to capture memorable photos. Once in Salta a walk to the main square, a visit to the MAAM – High Mountain Archaeological Museum –, and a rewarding drink facing the cathedral will top the day. Being the only night in a city, it is a

Today we travel to desert via a cloud forest road, moving north towards the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a World Heritage Site; designated for its colourful landscapes an time-honoured cultures. This is a day to meet with the Andean people and their traditional ways. (B/L/D)

Wake up to discovery, for today we drive across the Andes Mountains, travelling up towards the high Andean plateau or Puna, also called Altiplano. From Salinas Grandes we move towards landscapes carved by volcanoes. In the midst of it we cross the Argentine - Chilean border at Paso de Jama, the highest of all passes between both countries. Our chosen accommodation has a multiple activity programme, designed so that you can choose what you want to do, in private, once there. Walking, 4WD excursions, horseback-riding or meeting the local communities and learning their ways, are all options for you to choose from. (B/L/D)

This is your last day, so we suggest you take full advantage of the South America landscapes, flavours and sun. Having been here for two weeks you will be almost prepared to design your own itinerary, however your private guide will be there ready to suggesta most memorable day excursion. (B/L/D)
