A World of Culture, Nature, and Color

Colombia

After a tumultuous past, Colombia is now a fresh tourist destination with an immense amount of activities to offer the intrepid traveller. Colombia has the unique selling point of being the only country in South America to border both the Caribbean and the Pacific. This uniquely placed country boasts a very diverse ecosystem, including the Amazon rainforest near Leticia, the snow topped mountains in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta region, the deserts of La Guajira and the tropical paradise in the islands of Providencia and San Andres. With this varied and rich geography, Colombia is also home to more bird species than anywhere else in the world.

And of course, Colombia is also loved for its coffee. In 2011, UNESCO included the country’s Coffee Cultural Landscape on the list of World Heritage sites. The charming coffee region is growing as a tourist destination and coffee tours are becoming more and more popular.

Colombia’s cities are also worth visiting. In Bogota, the metropolitan capital of the country, one can enjoy local typical cuisine, and then walk it off by strolling through the historic district of La Candelaria, a shopping spree on the North Side, or a visit to one of the museums. At Cartagena, a quaint fishing village on the country’s Caribbean coast, one can relax on the perfect beaches and walk through the historical old town.
