This adventure takes you through the stunning Prespa Lake region of Macedonia. After your arrival and some sightseeing in Skopja, Macedonia’s capital, you will then head southeast to the Prespa Lake and Ohrid Lake region. Enjoy a hike in the Galicica National Park, a picturesque boat ride to Golem Grad island which is home to ancient ruins and churches, walking and hiking along trails in the Pelister National Park, a trek to the summit of Pelister, and sightseeing at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ohrid.

Day by Day Itinerary

ARRIVAL:

Pickup and transfer from airport to the hotel in Skopje (option I in case of early arrival or option II in case of a late arrival).

Option I: Accommodation at hotel in Skopje. Presentation of the whole journey. Walking tour of Skopje (Skopje Fortress – Kale, the Old Bazaar, the Church of St. Spas. We stop by for a lunch in the bazaar. After the lunch we have time for some souvenir shopping in the Bazaar. We continue with our Skopje tour in the afternoon, with visits of the Stone Bridge, the Mother Theresa Memorial House, the Old Railway Station. The group will enjoy coffee break on the Street Makedonija. Dinner and overnight in Skopje. (L/D)

Option II: Departure to Kopanki. Accommodation at hotel Molika. Dinner and overnight in Kopani – Bitola. (D)

WALK TO JORGOV KAMEN AND CRVENI STENI:
Breakfast and check out from the hotel. Departure to Kopanki. Arrival at the hotel and check in. Walking tour along the Jorgov Kamen and Crveni Steni areas of Pelister National Park (4 hours in both directions). Lunch with traditional dishes from the region. Walking back to the hotel. Leisure time. Dinner and overnight in Kopani – Bitola.  (B/L/D)
TREKKING IN PELISTER:
Breakfast. Trekking tour to the summit of Pelister National Park through the stone ridge (harder version) or through the Molika Forest (easier version). After 6 hours of trekking arrival at the summit. One hour break for lunch. On the way to Nizepole we will visit the glacial lakes “Pelisterski oci”. Arrival at Nizepole and transfer back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Kopani – Bitola. (B/L/D)

Boat ride to “Golem Grad”: Breakfast and check out from the hotel. Transfer to the village of Stenje. Check in at hotel. Boat ride to the island of “Golem Grad”, an island on Lake Prespa, home to ancient ruins and churches. We spend 2 hours sightseeing and also have lunch on site. After boat trip transfer back to hotel. Leisure time. Dinner and overnight in Stenje. (B/L/D)

TREKKING IN GALICICA:
Breakfast. Departure to Galicicia National Park. This beautiful National Park lies between Lake Prespa and Lake Ohrid and is home to extremely opulent and endemic flora and fauna. We will Trek to the Magaro summit with a snack along the way (6 hours). Return to Stenje. Lunch and leisure time. Dinner and overnight in Stenje. (B/L/D)
SIGHTSEEING IN OHRID:
Breakfast. Check out from the hotel. Walking tour of Ohrid, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where we visit the cities most famous amenities: the Church of St. Sofia, the Plaoshnik archaeological site, Tzar Samuel’s fortress, the Ancient Theater, church of St. Jovan Kaneo. We stop by for an optional lunch in a restaurant in the old part of Ohrid. After the lunch we explore the old Ohrid bazaar Visit of a traditional handmade paper workshop. If there is time left, we will also visit the house of Robevci which is at the same time a museum of Ohrid. Return to Skopje. Overnight in Skopje. (B/L/D)

Option II: In case of late departure optional visit of Matka canyon near Skopje. The group will be offered optional boat trip and visit of the Vrelo cave. We will have lunch at the restaurant by the Matka Lake. Departure to the airport. (B)
