Delhi was initially a ruling ground of the Mughal Empire. In 1803 AD Delhi became a dominion of the British Kingdom and in 1911 the city was acknowledged as the capital of India. The city is located on the banks of Yamuna River which makes its crop lands fertile. Being on the northern part of India Delhi comprises of plain areas. There are several tourist attractions in the city without which Delhi is not complete. From Red fort, Lotus Temple and Chandni Chowk to Modern art Gallery, Purana Quila and many more, Delhi boasts of an infinite range of touristy places. The Delhi Metro is another remarkable achievement of the city in the recent years. While going through the information about Delhi one can come across hordes of unique features associated with this ancient city of India.

TRAVEL FROM DELHI TO SRINAGAR
Transfer to airport for flight to Srinagar. Indulgent houseboats, historic gardens, distinctive Kashmiri wooden mosques and a mild summer climate combine to make Srinagar one of India’s top tourist attractions.
You will be received at the airport by your accompanying guide for the entire duration of the tour. Check into the hotel and afternoon at leisure.
At 1500 hours we have arranged for a guided Shikhara boat ride on the famous Dal Lake. The circuit is from the Nehru Park past Hazratbal, Nagin, Rainawari and back. The interesting part of Shikara rides in Srinagar is the floating gardens, which are either vegetables or flowers.

After breakfast, you begin the tour with a long drive to Kargil (8780 feet/2676 meters) starting at 0830 AM. The drive will take approximately 6-8 hours.
Upon arrival in Kargil you will transfer to your hotel and have the remainder of the day at leisure. Kargil is the second largest town and is an important junction of the historic route leading to Kashmir, Baluchistan, Afghanistan , central Asia , Sinkiang, Tibet and via Zanskar to Jammu and Himachal.
Tonight you will stay in a basic hotel/guest house that is about the best available there. Also the entry point for the mighty Zanskar valleys.
Overnight at Hotel Zojila residency

Today, after early breakfast you will drive to Chilling (11600 feet / 3550 meters) at 0830 AM with a brief halt to visit the Lamayuru monastery en-route. The drive will take approximately 6-8 hours.
On arrival, check into your tented accommodation.
Visit the copper workers village and hike to the nearby monastery.

Today, after early breakfast you will drive to Chilling (11600 feet / 3550 meters) at 0830 AM with a brief halt to visit the Lamayuru monastery en-route. The drive will take approximately 6-8 hours.

*Note: You will be provided all equipment for the rafting experience including wet suits, helmets, life jackets etc.After lunch at the banks of the river, drive to Leh (1 hour drive). Leh, the capital of Ladakh is situated at a height of 11561 feet / 3525 meters and is towards the eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The region is watered by the Zanskar River, which flows into the Indus River just below. Spilling out of a side valley that tapers north towards eroded snow-capped peaks, the Ladakhi capital sprawls from the foot of a ruined Tibetan style palace – a maze of mud-brick and concrete flanked on one side by cream-coloured desert, and on the other by a swathe of lush irrigated farmland.
*Note: Bid adieu to your driver as you will get a different driver and vehicle once you reach Leh. This is due to the strict policy of the Ladakh Transport Union which does not allow non local vehicles to ply in the region. After breakfast, depart from the hotel at 0930 AM and drive till Khardung la Pass (highest motor able pass at 18380 feet / 5602 meters) and return by lunch. The pass is situated 40 Kms away from Leh town.

TRAVEL FROM LEH TO TSO MORIRI
After breakfast, depart from hotel at 0830 AM and travel in jeep to the high altitude lake of Tso Moriri, and check into a tented Camp (travel time is 7-8 hours).Upon arrival, absorb the Lake and the snow-capped mountains around.
Tso Moriri or Lake Moriri in the Changthang (literal meaning, northern plains) area is a High Altitude Lake with an altitude of 15075 feet / 4595 meters in Ladakh and is the largest of the High Altitude Lakes in the Trans-Himalayan bio geographic region, entirely within India. It is hemmed between Ladakh in the North and Tibet in the east and Zanskar in the west; the Changthang Plateau is the geographical setting with snow peaks that provides the source of water for the Lake. Accessibility to the lake is limited to summer season only. Tsokar means salty lake in local language and salt was extracted from this lake in earlier times, till the end of 1959, for consumption by the local people. The lake is surrounded by the elevated valley of Rupshu with hills rising to 20000 feet / 6000 meters. “Changpas”, the nomadic migratory shepherds (pastoral community) of yak, sheep, goat, and horses of Tibetan origin and who are engaged in trade and work on caravans in Ladakh region, are the main inhabitants of the area. Changpa herders use the land of this valley as grazing ground and for cultivation.
Late afternoon enjoy a guided walk along the lake.

Enjoy the environs with local walks along the Lake and Jeep ride to try and meet the nomadic Changpa tribes and spot the migratory birds. Visit the monastery at Korzok village.
Evening free for reading or listening to personal music and indeed painting and photography as per your interests.

and check-in to Stok Palace.The Palace complex is stately on the outside and mysterious inside, its shaded corridors and courtyards leading you into startlingly colorful spaces. The suites in the Palace are indulgent and comfortable with modern bathrooms that will surprise you. The current abode of the royal family is interesting as it is a royal home you will be staying in and will be witness to the everyday living of the royal family.You will be met by Raja Jigyme of the Royal Family if in Residence! He will be requested to spend some time with you over tea/coffee to speak about Ladakh.Explore the village of Stok later in the day and get to know the community with Phunshok guiding you locally.
