You see, before they were known as the Galapagos Islands, intrepid sailors and explorers knew the desolate and mysterious islands as Las Encantadas – “The Enchanted Ones.” Cut off from the mainland by nearly 1,000 kilometres of unforgiving ocean, Las Encantadas was a place where the natural world ran wild.
In the unrelenting conditions, the wildlife that somehow made its way from the mainland had to undergo fascinating evolutions to adapt to the uncommon conditions of each island. Each species was shaped by their unique experiences, and then transformed into something new and highly-specialized to thrive in their environment.
